  • Jamal Bransford - Board President & Treasurer

    Mr. Bransford is a 2-time Emmy Award Winning Photojournalist, 2-Time Edward R. Murrow Award winner, the Michigan Association of Broadcaster Photojournalist of the Year, and a host of other awards.

    Jamal Bransford has worked in Broadcast News for over 20 years, including WEYI NBC 25, WJRT ABC 12, and WDIV TV 4 in Detroit.

    Jamal Bransford graduated from Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts in 2001 and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from Purdue University Global.

  • Robert Boaz - Board Vice President of Broadcast

    Born and raised in Flint, Michigan, Robert Boaz is a product of the Flint Public Community Schools. A former educator passionate about helping prepare youth to be respectful, knowledgeable, innovative, and ambitious young men and women. He is currently the General Manager of WOWE 98.9 The Beat, Flint's Hip hop and R&B station. The Call letters W.O.W.E. stand for "With Opportunity We Empower." To continue the legacy of the station's Founder is the mission. Build with our community, help advance the culture and empower.

  • La'Nita Brooks - Board Secretary

    Born and raised in Chicago, La’Nita graduated with her master’s in journalism from DePaul University before starting her career with Mid-Michigan at WNEM TV 5. During her time at DePaul, she reported and anchored for their show “Good Day DePaul.” She also was the president of DePaul's National Association of Black Journalists where she led and moderated events.

    She is a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. La’Nita loves animals, traveling, tacos, and spending time with her family. Her goal is to make a difference wherever she goes.

  • Sierra Searcy - Parliamentarian

    Sierra Searcy is from the ‘Motor-City’ also known as Detroit, Michigan and is a true Midwest girl. She is a Spartan, GO GREEN, with a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University. She studied Journalism with a concentration in broadcast and African and African American Studies. Sierra is also a very proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

    She joined the WNEM-TV 5 team in February of 2023, as a morning co-anchor for WNEM Wake Up and WNEM-TV 5 at 9. Before making her way to mid-Michigan, she was a morning anchor in the Quad Cities and a midday news anchor in northern Michigan.

    In her spare time Sierra enjoys cooking, trying new restaurants, collecting vinyl records, going to concerts and listening to all sorts of music.

    Sierra loves meeting new people and mostly does so through volunteer work. She says, “I love getting to know people in the community and telling their stories. The stories that need to be told. Whether it is through volunteering or going to events, community involvement is very important.”
